It’s Memorial Day weekend, Marysville! Summer’s first long weekend is finally upon us, and there’s plenty of ways to get out and celebrate that this weekend. But it’s important not to forget the purpose of the day off on Monday: honoring those who gave their life in service of this country. So, we’re starting off this rundown with the schedule for Marysville’s Memorial Day observances.
Monday, May 28
8:15 a.m. Wreath Presentation at Schwartzkopf Park to honor those lost at sea
9 a.m. Parade Launch, Fifth & Plum Streets, west along 5th Street.
9:30 a.m. Memorial Observance, Oakdale Cemetery to honor those lost at war.

Saturday, May 26
Spring Fling 2018 at Sunrise Sanctuary
Sunrise Animal Sanctuary is hosting their annual Spring Fling event from 1 to 3 p.m. this Saturday. You can meet and mingle with the animals while enjoying tasty, vegetarian snacks from Portia’s Cafe and Doughasis. There will also be a silent auction to raise money for the sanctuary. Tickets are required and can be purchased here.
Free Benefit Concert at Lucky’s Grille
Local bands Miller and the Hunks, The Turbos and Tourist Trap will be playing at Lucky’s Grille near Mill Valley on Saturday night. Music starts at 9 p.m. and all proceeds benefit the Wolford family.
Sunday, May 27
PetValu on Coleman’s Crossing is partnering with local Columbus rescue Pet Promise to host an adoption event on the fourth Sunday of each month. Come out from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to check out all the cuddly, adoptable cats and consider opening your home to a new furry friend!
Also happening this weekend: The weekly Union County Farmer’s Market and live music on Saturday night at Dalton Union Winery.
