All right readers, the What’s Up, Marysville team is taking a trip to sunnier shores next week, which means you guys get a special DOUBLE ISSUE this week. Nine fun, weekend things to do spanning two weekends: November 9-11 and 16-18. So, dive right in and start planning so you don’t miss out!
November 9-11
Food for Fines at Marysville Public Library
Racked up a few fines at the library? We’ve all been there. Luckily, all weekend long the library is hosting a food drive, and each item donated will forgive $1 of your late fees. All items will benefit the Marysville Food Pantry.
Open Mic Night at Dalton Union Winery and Brewery
Warm up those vocal chords because its open mic night on Friday at Dalton Union! You can even bring a guitar or keyboard to dazzle the crowd with your musical chops. The show starts at 6:30 p.m.
The Norse Mythology Ragnasplosion at MHS Auditorium
This show is the product of Marysville High School’s new performing arts program, and it promises to be a hilarious twist on classic tales from Norse mythology. The show starts at 7 p.m. on both Friday AND Saturday night, so head out to the high school and support local youth theater!
The HAZ BENZ live at Leon’s Garage
Local retro rockers The HAZ BENZ will be making an appearance at Leon’s Garage this Saturday at 7 p.m. Show up for the awesome craft beer and apps and stay for the sweet 60s, 70s and 80s covers.
Whiskey Cocktail Class at Half Pint
Ok, this is technically on Monday, but it seems so fun that we had to include it. The Half Pint is hosting a whiskey cocktail class to teach you the art of mixology just in time for holiday parties. You’ll make three different cocktails, receive a special gift and get to snack on some apps while you’re there. Tickets are $35 per person.
November 16-18
The Groove at Leon’s Garage
Classic rockers The Groove will be at Leon’s on Friday night for the Benefit for Brynnley Neer Fundraising Party. Proceeds from raffles, drawings and donations will benefit a local family battling childhood cancer.
POP Pilates at the YMCA
If you’ve always been curious about this upbeat style of workout, now’s your chance to see it for yourself. The Y is offering another POP Pilates fitness class, and Saturday the 17th is the first class. Throw on your sweats and give it a try!
Adoption Event at PetValu
PetValu is doing another adoption event on Sunday the 18th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a few furry friends from Blue’s Mews Cat Rescue. Even if you’re not in the market for a pet right now, it’s always fun to play with kittens!
Thanksgiving for the Turkeys at Sunrise Sanctuary
Sunrise Sanctuary is hosting a vegan alternative to Thanksgiving on Sunday the 18th. They’ll have vegan eats, a silent auction, plus you’ll get to hang out with all their sweet rescued animals. Tickets are available here, in a free will donation format that allows you to virtually purchased food for the animals.
