Hi everyone, it’s Theresa from What’s Up, Marysville here, back again with our weekly list of fun things to do this weekend in the 43040.

It’s the weekend just before everyone’s favorite summer holiday, Independence Day! With the 4th falling on a Wednesday this year, everyone’s wondering when is the weekend to celebrate. No matter where you land on this important debate, we’ve got a round-up of fun things to do both patriotic and non. See below for our list for June 29-July 4 and leave your suggestion in the comments!

All Weekend Long

The Little Mermaid at Bunsold Middle School

Join Summer Theater Workshop for their production of “The Little Mermaid Jr.”, happening all weekend at Bunsold Middle School. Bring the whole family along for a night of music and adventure under the sea! Performances will be held Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.

Friday, June 29

Girl’s Night Out at Marysville Art League

It’s a girl’s night out this Friday with Marysville Art League! Grab your friends and BYOB to create your own 18″ serving/display tray with handles using alcohol inks. Advance tickets are required and are available here.

Saturday, June 30

The Peach Truck at Dutch Mill Greenhouse

Who doesn’t love Georgia peaches? Dutch Mill Greenhouse is hosting The Peach Truck
on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. to make sure you can get your fresh summer peaches and pecans! 25 lb. boxes of Freestone Georgia peaches are $40, and pecans (shelled and halved) will run you $14/lb. Check out The Peach Truck’s site for canning directions and recipes too.

Union County Farmer’s Market

If you’re already getting up early for fresh produce, you might as well swing by the Farmer’s Market to make it a meal! Check it out this Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Partner’s Park in uptown Marysville.

Blackburn Chasing the Cure 5K at Marysville High School Stadium

Another good reason to be up early on a Saturday — running for a great cause. The 3rd Annual Blackburn Chasing the Cure 5K Walk/Run will benefit local families battling breast cancer or childhood cancer. After the run, you can enjoy the festival which will feature local vendors, a bounce house, snow cones and more! You can register to run here.

Shiner Fundraiser, Raffle and Tap Takeover at Leon’s Garage

Any time between now and Saturday, you can stop by Leon’s Garage and purchase a raffle ticket that might earn you a pair of exclusive Shiner cornhole boards. The drawing will take place Saturday, right before great live entertainment from local country band 23 Southbound! Proceeds from the raffle will benefit The Boot Campaign, an organization that supports our nation’s military by providing life-improving programs for veterans and military families nationwide to bridge the divide between military life and civilian life.

Richwood Rock the Clock

Enjoy some live music under the stars in Richwood with everyone’s favorite local band The Reaganomics! Grab a slice of pizza and a cold beer and take in a beautiful summer evening in Union County. You can also register to volunteer here.
